The MRCPCH Part 1 examination comprises of a 2 papers; Paper One A and Paper One B.

MRCPCH Paper One A also serves as written component for the Diploma in Child Health examination. This MRCPCH examination covers all child health issues and topics that occur most commonly in the first six to twelve month of hospital-based paediatrics, community care and primary practice. All paediatricians and doctors intending to work primarily with young patients are required to undertake this MRCPCH examination.

MRCPCH Paper One B covers all child health issues and topics that occur most commonly in the first six to twelve month of hospital-based paediatrics, community services and primary care practice. The MRCPCH registration is awarded upon passing both components of the MRCPCH Part 1 exam.
